Cold Chisel’s The Big Five-0 Live bottles a hot Melbourne night at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on 23 November 2024, with Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss, Don Walker and crew tearing through Cheap Wine, Khe Sanh and Bow River. This triple-LP lands in a deluxe six-panel gatefold packed with tour photos. Cue the crowd roar, the rimshot crack, the horns of Flame Trees. Central tension: raw pub-rock energy versus studio-sharp execution.
Across three heavyweight records the set moves from Standing on the Outside to Goodbye (Astrid Goodbye), with bonus cuts from the night before. You can feel the cold air, hear 10,000 voices and that big-room snare bloom. A proper souvenir that plays like a victory lap. Tropes: homegrown anthems, live catharsis.

Why this record matters
A front-row document of an Australian institution at 50, recorded at one of the country’s great outdoor venues. The mix keeps the band punchy and the audience in the room, so it feels communal on every spin. Triple LP gives the songs space to breathe without crowding the grooves.
