This is the 180g vinyl LP reissue of Unknown Pleasures, Joy Division's 1979 debut album, released on Rhino/Warner. Standard black vinyl on heavyweight pressing.
Unknown Pleasures came out in June 1979 on the Manchester independent Factory Records, produced by Martin Hannett. It's ten tracks, forty minutes, recorded in a studio that was cold enough to shape how it sounds. Ian Curtis died in May 1980, six weeks before their second album came out, which is why this one carries the weight it does. If you've seen the album cover on everything for forty years and never heard the record, this is where to start. If you know Disorder, She's Lost Control and New Dawn Fades, you already know you want this on vinyl.
