Beck - Odelay (140g LP Reissue)

Odelay is the 1996 album where Beck stopped being the slacker hit single guy and became one of the most interesting artists of his generation. Released on DGC in June 1996, it was his major label follow-up to Mellow Gold and the moment everything came together: the folk roots, the hip-hop instincts, the noise rock, the country, the funk, the found sounds. Universally praised on release, named Album of the Year by Rolling Stone and the Village Voice Pazz and Jop critics' poll.

Where It's At, Devils Haircut, The New Pollution, Jack-Ass. The singles drove this album to double-platinum certification and won Beck two Grammys in 1997 for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. It was also Beck's first nomination for Album of the Year, a precursor to his eventual win with Morning Phase nearly twenty years later.

This is the 2016 reissue marking the album's 20th anniversary, pressed on 140 gram vinyl and mastered by Bob Ludwig. Produced by Beck with the Dust Brothers, Mario Caldato Jr., Brian Paulson, Tom Rothrock and Rob Schnapf, the album's collage-style sample work was the Dust Brothers' first major production credit since the Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique.
