Off the Wall (1979) was Michael Jackson's breakthrough as an adult solo artist. Produced by Quincy Jones, it generated four top-ten singles — a milestone no solo artist had achieved before. The album arrived at the peak of disco but was building something beyond it: a seamless fusion of funk, soul, R&B and pop that pointed forward rather than back. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough won Jackson his first Grammy as a solo performer. Originally overlooked at the Grammys, Off the Wall has since been reassessed as one of the great pop albums of the 20th century.
