Pink Floyd formed in London in 1965, initially fronted by Syd Barrett. By the mid-1970s, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright had become one of the best-selling bands in the world. Wish You Were Here was released in 1975 as a tribute to Barrett, who had left the band years earlier. The record opens and closes with the two-part 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond', with 'Welcome to the Machine' and 'Have a Cigar' in the middle.
