A Night at the Opera has Bohemian Rhapsody, which is reason enough to own it on vinyl. It also has You're My Best Friend, Love of My Life, and '39 on the way there, which is an argument the second side has to work hard to top, and then it does. Queen's range across this record is wider than almost any other album from the same era: heavy and theatrical in places, acoustic folk in others, capable of both inside thirty minutes. For anyone who knows Bohemian Rhapsody and hasn't heard what surrounds it, this is where to start.
A Night at the Opera has been reissued many times. This pressing is from Universal Music / Island Records, the standard reissue in wide circulation since the mid-2010s. If you're after a half-speed mastered or limited pressing, that's a separate product.
