Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupiŋu was a Yolŋu man from Galiwin'ku (Elcho Island), Northern Territory, who sang primarily in Yolŋu Matha languages. Born blind, he played guitar, keyboard, and drums, and his voice became one of the most distinctive in Australian music. His self-titled 2008 debut album introduced him to a wide Australian and international audience. He passed away in 2017.
The Gurrumul Story includes a new orchestrally augmented recording of Wiyathul (Longing For Place) and a rare duet version of Bayini featuring Sarah Blasko.
