Grumpy Dad Review - Dean Lewis - The Epilogue Vinyl LP
I think I’ll start by saying I’m probably about 30 years shy of the likely target demographic for Dean Lewis. But hey he’s a young Australian with a cracking voice who writes his own songs and has achieved critical and chart success both in Australia and across the world - so much credit to him.
This is a great collection of songs, a mix of well constructed pop songs and heartfelt pop ballads that grows on you the more you listen to it.
The album starts really strong with the first 2 songs Empire and All I Ever Wanted both being crackers that you find yourself singing in your head for the rest of the day.
My initial concern that a whole album of Dean Lewis might be just a little bit ‘samey’ was continually allayed with each song bringing something different such as the terrific Rest - a duet with Sasha Alex Sloan and even a hint of James Blunt with Love of My Life.
While the Album isn’t a slap you in the face piece full of instant classics, it is a great collection of songs sung by a guy with a ripping voice that gets better and better the more you listen to it.
My Review - 6.6/8.
