Did you know?  The story behind Sheppard’s Zora is one of those rare, electrifying moments of synchronicity. The album’s themes—hope, resilience, and optimism—were inspired by the challenges the band and their family faced while writing the songs. Central to their inspiration was their Croatian grandmother,  a beacon of strength and positivity despite her difficult journey. She left war-torn Yugoslavia, built a life in Australia, and raised seven children after losing her husband early, all with an unshakable smile and radiant energy.

When it came time to name the album, the band looked up the Croatian word for “dawn” in honour of their heritage and grandmother’s influence. They were stunned to see her name, “Zora,” displayed on the screen—a moment so powerful that it felt like fate. The name encapsulates not just the album’s themes but also a legacy of perseverance, making Zora a tribute to hope that resonates deeply with the band and their family.
