Grumpy Dad Review - Hilltop Hoods - Fall from the Light
Grumpy Dad Reviews: Neil gives his take on Hilltop Hoods’ Fall From The Light. A fresh spin from Adelaide’s hip hop heavyweights that proves they’ve still got it.
I was so excited about the release of this album, their latest studio album, and I have to say it does not disappoint.
Firstly the presentation, being a vinyl nut this is pretty important. 2 discs, orange vinyl great cover art and gatefold. Super stylish it’s fantastic.
I came to the Hilltop Hoods later than some, but when I saw them live in 2019, I was hooked. So much explosive energy, great lyrics and super catchy hooks you could do nothing else but get caught up in the moment and leap around. I have always felt a sense of local pride about the success of these lads from the suburbs of Adelaide that have taken the country and the world by storm.
This new album represents a band at the peak of their powers, I have had it on high rotation for a couple of weeks and I dig every song. Trademark incredible catchy hooks from great collaborations, great lyrics that are reflective of maybe a more mature stage in the bands life.
My favourites being The Gift featuring Marlon (incidentally former AFL star Marlon Motlop) with lyrics like “It’s the music, passed from my father, a pile vinyl covered in dust” or the protest style but super catchy Don’t Happy, Be Worry.
Whether you’re already a fan of the Hilltop Hoods or discovering them for the first time you will love this album and once you listen once you won’t be able to Turn it off.
7.6 vinyl grooves out of 8!!
